Steve Gibson

Steve Gibson is a composer, conductor, pianist and educator based in the North-East of England. After graduating in music from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Steve spent several years in music education before moving into school and college management, including heading-up the sector-leading Performance Academy within Newcastle College. Currently, Steve is Deputy Headteacher at a Northumberland High School and in addition supports the growth and development of a number of youth organisations on their boards of trustees.

Steve is the conductor of The Salvation Army’s North-East Divisional Youth Chorus and the assistant musical director for SASWE, the Salvation Army’s only ensemble for symphonic winds, who perform a number of his compositions for wind band. Steve enjoys composing music for brass, wind and vocal groups, particularly in response to commissions from brass bands, school groups, and for various Salvation Army groups and events. Steve’s music has been recorded and performed worldwide and he loves to hear from those who have performed his work.
